New Directions For Youth, Inc. (NDY) will utilize the funds to expand existing programs which currently serve 3,000 youth ages 10-24, and their family members. Most of the youth served: 1) have an increased risk of homelessness and/or gang membership; 2) are reintegrating into the community from institutions and detention centers; 3) have been involved with the juvenile justice system, foster care system, the Los Angeles Police Department and/or the County Probation Department; 4) have complex health and/or behavioral health conditions; 5) are high utilizers of public services.
NDY’s programs and services range from traditional service provision to innovative, experimental, pilot programs. Services will be provided in San Fernando Valley to include Pacoima, Sun Valley, North Hills, Reseda, North Hollywood and other contiguous cities. NDY will expand the program by providing additional youth employment hours, computer and GED training classes, counseling services, parent education, delinquency prevention and reentry services.
